certificate of residence (if your main address differs from your current residence), issued by the local registration office \u2014 not older than four weeks at the time of submission\u00a0<strong>nicht <\/strong>im Wohnort ist (bei Abgabe der Unterlagen nicht \u00e4lter als 4 Wochen).\u00a0<\/li><li>A certified copy from the birth register, issued by the registry office of your place of birth (a simple birth certificate is not sufficient!) <strong>nicht <\/strong>ausreichend!<\/li><li>Official proof of any name change<\/li><li>For <strong>couples with children born before marriage: <\/strong>birth certificates of the children, acknowledgment of paternity, and custody declaration (if applicable)<\/li><li><strong>Divorced\u00a0<\/strong>individuals: the marriage certificate and the final divorce decree of the last marriage<\/li><li><strong>If a civil partnership was legally dissolved: <\/strong>the partnership certificate and the court decision<\/li><li><strong>Widowed individuals:\u00a0<\/strong>the marriage or partnership certificate and the death we registered for the church ceremony, he mentioned that he wouldn\u2019t mind taking my name instead \u2014 and that\u2019s when the dilemma began!\n\nWe discussed it with our families, thanked them for their input, and decided that we\u2019d make our own choice \u2014 one they\u2019d only find out at the registry office.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section registered, the registrar told us that both partners cannot legally have a double surname in Germany.\n\nThat created a problem \u2014 having different names wasn\u2019t an option for us, because for us, marriage means unity.\nEven though I had already decided inwardly to take my fianc\u00e9\u2019s name, I let him wait a little longer for my final answer \ud83d\ude09\n\nSo, during the registration, we left the \u201cfamily name\u201d question open \u2014 it can even be decided on the wedding day or changed afterwards if needed.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section
